Who We Are

Kawerau Enterprise Agency Inc was established in 1985 as an Incorporated Society with assistance from TASMAN to improve the economic wellbeing of Kawerau. KEA Inc aims to maximise the use of available resources, grow existing business and attract new business. The first, Enterprise Agency in New Zealand, and now the only one of its type, KEA Inc is a self-financing operation, independent from Council.

Income comes from the lease and rental of assets e.g. rooms and services provided at KEA Centre at 60 Onslow Street, Kawerau and industrial units at the KEA Industrial Park, and sale of Industrial Land. A small percentage of funding is also received from the 4 cornerstone partners, Norske Skog Tasman, Tenon (Fletcher Challenge Forests), Kawerau District Council, Kawerau Business Association.

KEA Inc has four staff members including an Executive Director and a Controlling Board of Directors representing the four stakeholders and local business people.
